Born near Leipzig, Annekathrin Lang moved to New York to study screenwriting. She earned her Master’s degree in Media Arts/Screenwriting from Long Island University, Brooklyn, NY, as a Fulbright Scholar (2010–2012). During her studies, she wrote spec scripts for New Girl and Modern Family and completed her master’s thesis on “The Female Profession in Romantic Comedy Films,” along with her thesis screenplay Married, Two Children.
After returning to Germany, she worked as a storyline trainee for UFA Serial Drama and developed projects for Good Mood Productions and Sony Pictures. Her short film debut Fünf Minuten Freundschaft won the Green Band Short Film Competition (2014) and the Audience Award at the Bundesfestival Video (2015). In 2012, she was a finalist in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Screenwriting Competition (in cooperation with FFF Bayern) with her coming-of-age comedy Frohsinn Joghurt (90 min).
From 2018 till 2024, Annekatrin was an in-house writer for ITV Studios Germany, developing various projects, including series and feature film and worked as a writer and story editor on the SAT.1 sitcom Think Big!, which was nominated for the German Comedy Award, the German Television Award, and the Venice TV Award. She is currently developing two feature films and one film for the bigscreen.
